Even if you’re a reluctant gourmand, it’s hard not to be swept away by the delicacies of the area. Roast goose and fish are up there on the popularity charts and on most menus. Other dishes that are going to have you wishing you had worn your pants with the elastic waistband, include poultry filled with red beets, legs of pork cooked with plums and a local specialty called Heaven and Earth. This dish made of potatoes (earth, coming up from the ground) and wine-stewed pear slices or apple puree (coming from trees, heaven) and had with roasted bratwurst – pleases true gourmands.
