The biggest and busiest airport in the countryWord to the wise: If you’re in a hurry, take the CAT train into the city. If you’re on a budget, opt for the less expensive S-Bahn train instead.
Vienna’s International Airport rests approximately 17 kilometers southeast of the city. The airport is connected to the main transportation hubs in the centre of the city via bus, the S-Bahn trains as well as the City Airport Train (CAT). Transit times vary, according to your destination and method of travel.
Follow the signs and arrows inside the airport to the various transportation departure points, which are relatively easy to find. You can purchase tickets for the CAT trains in the arrival hall, or at the platform (follow the green signs). The CAT trains will drop you off at the City Air Terminal downtown, located in the Wien Mitte station. The comfortable journey takes only 16 minutes. If you opt for the less expensive S-Bahn trains, the journey will take you a little longer (about 25 minutes).
Vienna Airport Lines provides bus service from the airport to various points in and around the city (20-45 min). There are also taxis and limousines available, plus a parking garage at the airport with room for 22,000 vehicles, if you decide to drive.
