A favourite with students of the National Institute of Design (NID), Amdo’s kitchen is a tiny, hole-in-the-wall located in the small lane between Hotel Tulip Inn and Tulsi Travel Agency. It’s cramped and devoid of any ambience, but the food more than makes up for it. Served out of a tiny kitchen by a Tibetan chef and his family, the things to eat here are the momos (dipped in a fiery red chilli cause), thukpa and a soupy dish called thantuk. Available for only six good-weather months in the year, Amdo informs his customers of his return after the hiatus, and the customers come flooding in.
