Located at the opposite end of the town from French Quarter, Clancy’s is on Annunciation Street and is a classy little restaurant with lovely furniture and white table cloth. The restaurant began its life as a po’boy place but quickly upped its repertoire to include a whole range of Cajun dishes such as turtle soup, gumbo and pies. But the crowd favourite is the smoked and fried soft shell crabs. Soft shell crabs are delicious whether smoked or fried, but by smoking them first and then frying them, Clancy’s has taken them to another level and intensified the flavours so much that the delicate smoky flavour comes through and is accompanied by lovely flavours.
