The king of thalis, as it is often called by regulars, the one at Golden Star Thali is an assortment of Gujarati and Kutchi delicacies and snacks. The meal kicks off with farsan items like dhokla, kachoris, khandvis etc, followed by a couple of dry and gravy veggies, dal, khichdi, kadi and papad. For breads, one can pick from pooris, rotlis, parathas and masala puris (all dunked in desi ghee). If you have a thing for pickles, this place will spoil you silly with a whole platter of chutneys and pickles from tangy to sweet. Waiters here would be quick to notice and refill your plate each time you’ve drained a bowl or licked off a dish. Don’t skip the buttermilk as it’s freshly-prepared, tasty and serves as a good digestive along with this large meal. While it’s easy to overeat here, do save some space in your tummy for the last item on the list: desserts, which is invariably a rich halva or a thick delectable kheer.
