So this is big now! Hilti holds a Guinness Book of World record for being the oldest and still running vegetarian restaurant in the whole world. The restaurant’s holding reads ‘Vegetarian since 1898’ and is now run by fourth generation of the family. Started in the year 1898 by Ambrosius Hilti, the place now serves more than 500 strictly vegetarian delicacies. Quite interestingly, they call themselves vegetarian butchers and there meat alternatives from the ‘butcher’s counter’ are an absolute delight and must try. From tofu and soya sausage to seitan and tempeh, Haus Hilti serves it all. They are so popular that beside proper restaurants they now offer takeaway services, have a bar lounge, a club and a cooking studio too. So all the vegetarians with a knack of trying something new must come once and relish the delicacies of Haus Hilti when in Zurich.
