Referring to their aptly named Killer Gourmet Burgers (not the secret police of the Soviet Union), KGB is fashioned to resemble an American diner with counter service, and is almost always packed—the burgers here are as killer as they claim to be. The basic Shack burger (juicy smashed patty, cheddar and a shack sauce) evokes memories of NYC, but if you’re willing to push the boat out, the Tornado (fried egg, onion rings and spicy mayonnaise and a grilled patty) is unapologetically excessive. Leave room for such extras as the thick cut fries served variously with salt and pepper, malt vinegar, herbs, and Cajun spices. Beers and alcoholic drinks are also available, which could explain why it’s close to impossible to get a table during meal times, but considering the quality of food, it’s safe to assume the burger alone is reason enough. If you can’t stand crowds and the thought of parking an eternity away, visit strictly during off-peak hours.
