One of the earliest exponents of raw food in KL, Living Food set up shop during a time when raw food was regarded with bemusement at best, but founder Philip Yin—who also conducts workshops on nutrition—persisted, and his efforts have been amply rewarded. Synonymous with nutritious but exceedingly tasty raw food, Living Food isn’t exclusively raw—the Borneo laksa with juicy organic prawns, chicken, vegetables, and black rice noodles boasts a surfeit of flavour—but the raw items are rapidly winning hearts. It’s hard to believe that the raw enchilada stuffed with guacamole, tomatoes, vegetables and sprouts hasn’t been cooked, just as the raw banana pancakes with homemade dairy-free ice cream will work wonders in convincing cynics that a raw diet isn’t such an intolerable notion after all.
