La Carbonara

This lovely restaurant requires visitors to get off the beaten path a little, as it is not exactly located in the touristy areas. Instead, La Carbonara is located in the trendy neighborhood of Monti, and has been around since 1906. You must book a table in advance, and it’s important to note that it is closed on Sundays, and sometimes closes for a few weeks every August for holiday. Inside you will find the walls scribbled with messages from customers dating all the way back to the beginning. The quaint restaurant boasts beautiful, with wooden arches, and shelves of wine all over the place. What really sets this restaurant apart is the food – traditional and absolutely delicious Italian delicacies. Every day the special changes, from homemade gnocchi to baccala cod. Make sure to save room for one of the homemade desserts as well. What we love most about this restaurant is its authenticity, from the food to the servers, to the space they have created.
