Of all the eateries on St. Louis Street, none is more striking and adored than Antoine’s. So vintage and traditional it is that the fifth generation is still going strong at its helm. It has such an old world charm and so much history that its walls aptly reflect the history of New Orleans, and more about Mardi Gras. It has been considered as one of the best places for celebrity spotting for years. But above everything else, its multiple dining rooms including the small bar on one side exude such warmth that writers thronged the place and spent hours. Such was its popularity that noted author Frances Parkinson Keyes even set one of her murder mysteries here and called it Dinner at Antoine’s. It coincidentally went on to become a bestseller.
