Tucked away inside a crowded alley of the historic Chowk area, Raheem Hotel is a must-visit for all meat eaters. This small but immensely popular eatery probably serves the best mutton nihari in Lucknow. Founded by Haji Abdur Raheem Saheb in 1890, the restaurant is now run by Manzoor Ahmed and Mohammed Osama. When in Lucknow, just ask for Rahim ki nihari and anyone will direct you to this iconic food joint. Apart from savouring succulent nihari with kulche, you must also try paaye, sheermal and kakori kabab. The best time to visit is morning or afternoon, when the place is slightly less crowded than usual. The eatery’s fame goes beyond locals and visitors—even eminent personalities like Shabana Azmi, Vinod Dua and Naseeruddin Shah have visited and appreciated Raheem’s flavours.
