Probably the best jungle–themed restaurant in Guwahati, Machaan is located in one of the city’s best known shopping centre―Dona Planet. Once you enter the establishment, it is a different world in itself in every detail. The restaurant does not diverge from its theme and you will get the feel of eating in a jungle with artificial trees and dim–lit interiors. And guess what, their cutlery is also in sync with the main theme. Eat amid leaves that cover the ceiling and statues of giraffes and rhinos to add one memorable column in your travel diary.

The buffet―both vegetarian and non vegetarian―is very popular among the guests. The starters have their own reputation and you don’t want to miss out on the prawns and fried fish. And if you are a real discerning foodie, scan through the menu for dal chaunka, adraki murg and hari mirch ki machli. The desserts are also well made, do try the malpua with rabri.
