Spring Deer is no spring chicken—the restaurant has been flourishing in Tsim Sha Tsui for decades, and is known for serving the best Peking duck in town. The menu here comprises of Beijing cuisine, which is similar to its Chinese counterparts, but packs a punch in terms of its bold, distinctive flavours, and substitutes staples like rice with pancakes. Spring Deer might seem avoidable—the façade is unimpressive, and the interiors aren’t particularly inviting either—but get past the bland appearance, and you’ll be rewarded with deliciousness. Apart from the crispy, golden-skinned Peking duck, their seafood and chicken dishes are a big hit too, and you’ll have to book in advance if you don’t fancy waiting for a table. The portions here are massive, so make sure you go in a large group to do your meal justice.
