The sign says ‘restaurant,’ but this place is really just a comfortable, clean, cosy little cafe with unbeatable prices. Specializing in Thai cuisine and a few Western dishes, such as burgers, the food here is delicious and very affordable. However, it is their carrot cheesecake that keeps people coming back; you will never find a better one anywhere!Even better than Tamar’s food is their legacy. It all started in 1999 as the Tamar Center, part of the Project L.I.F.E. Foundation, which helps women trapped in the sex trade industry by giving them an alternative source of income. In addition to cooking and baking, there is a never-ending variety of arts, crafts, jewelry, clothing and souvenirs, all hand-produced by these women, with all proceeds going back to them. Good food for a good cause—it doesn’t get any better than that.
Recommended dish: Eat whatever you want, just do not leave without trying a slice of their carrot cheesecake.
