Located in the Forth Valley, between the two major cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, this town has tons of things to offer for you to see and do and is the perfect weekend getaway. The most famous attraction here though is the Falkirk Wheel. This is the world’s first and only rotating boat lift, and you can ride on the wheel. The visitor’s centre is a great place to learn about this masterpiece, how it transports the boats over 100 ft. A few other notable attractions here include the Antoine Wall which has UNESCO World Heritage status, the 15th century fortress Blackness Castle, a seven-mile round trip steam train trip along the shore and an epic mansion in Callendar Park. The Kelpies are also found here, the world’s largest equine sculptures which are made of 300 tonnes of steel. These incredible horse heads can be seen from the inside if you take an experience tour. Loaded with shops, restaurants and plenty of attractions, this town is a great weekend getaway destination.
