One of the many eateries that offer delicious Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki, Nagataya is not very far from the iconic Atomic Bomb Dome of the city, and is loved by both locals and travellers in equal measures. Considering how the pancakes prepared here are stuffed with generous amounts of soba and udon noodles among other appetising fillings, Nagataya is a great place to gorge like a total glutton without the fear of being judged. Given its countertop seating arrangement, you can watch your food being prepared, and then consume it piping hot. The linear seats also indicate that you might have to often dine in the company of total strangers, which can turn out to be quite a learning experience.

The staff at Nagataya, including the chefs, is extremely friendly and most can speak decent English and guide you through the menu. This place is always bustling with people, and you might have to wait in line for several minutes in order to be seated. Patience, therefore, is imperative. A small selection of wine and beer is also available and these pair really well with all of the wholesome crepes. There is also the presence of a number of vegetarian and vegan options.
