Kerala has been the bastion of home run guesthouses and homestays, which has changed the landscape of the state over the last decade. Adding to the exclusive milieu of Thekkady is El Paradiso, a guesthouse that lies tucked away in a quiet area of the town. The guesthouse offers 15 rooms and is run by a family who stays in the same house. Despite that there is plenty of privacy for the guests. The rooms are spacious and comfortable; some of them even overlook the garden. Choose first floor rooms for a more airy ambience. Some of the rooms have a four-bed option, which are ideal for a small family or a group. Cane swings, hammocks and easy chairs dot the property so guests can find their own little corner to unwind in. The home-run guesthouse lies in a residential area and lies in close proximity to the national park. Other activities include cooking classes from the lady of the house, elephant rides, boating, trekking in the forests, plantation visits and watching the traditional dance and music shows in the evenings. All these activities can be enjoyed close to the hotel.
