A 150 old colonial plantation bungalow has been styled to offer a luxury heritage accommodation at Coffee Village Retreat. The 300-acre plantation houses an ancient bungalow that was once used by the British. High ceilings, weathered furniture and restored nuances of the bungalow are a charming addition to your holiday. There is also a modern luxury unit in the campus that is perfect for families or a large group. The retreat runs like a luxury homestay with personalised attention from the manager of the property. The benefit of staying here is that you are close to the operations of an estate and can see the workings up close. Sit on the viewing deck and take in the tranquil surroundings or choose from activities like indoor games, cycling, birdwatching, trekking, boating or fishing. There are a number of waterfalls around the property which are perfect for a quiet picnic. End the day with just relaxing by the bonfire. The food served at Coffee Village Retreat is inspired from Malan, which is a specific style of the southern districts of Karnataka. The cuisine is infused with a variety of fruits and vegetables available in the dense forests; tender bamboo shoots, colocasia leaves, turmeric leaves, raw jackfruit are not hard to find in this cuisine. Steaming is preferred over cooking in Malnad and there is minimal use of oils.
