The beautiful and buzzing barrio
Word to the wise: Plaza Serrano is the focal point of Palermo Soho. Pick up some interesting fashion at the weekend market, or by night, gather with the young crowd for some al fresco drinking.
Noteworthy for: The sprawling greenery of park Los Bosques de Palermo forms an important part of this leafy barrio.
While San Telmo gives you a taste of times gone by, Palermo is the modern Buenos Aires. Packed with International restaurants that could compete with any global capital, chic boutiques, thriving street markets, cafes spilling out onto the pavements and a bustling bar scene, this beautiful and leafy barrio is where the young and beautiful porteños live and play.
The largest of Buenos Aires’ barrios, it has been divided into sub-neighbourhoods. Palermo Viejo is the most interesting to visit with its cobblestone streets and oak-tree canopies. It encompasses Palermo Hollywood, a media hub, and the more bohemian Palermo Soho, dense with bars and shops. Palermo itself usually refers to the more residential area with high-rise apartments, shopping malls and parks. Las Canitas is both chic and cool with expensive warehouse conversions and loft apartments.

As well as nightlife and dining, this is where to come for great shopping. South on Gurruchaga from Paraguay has a good concentration of interesting shops and young designers.
