The bustling hub of commerce
Noteworthy for: Although not Buenos Aires’ most attractive barrio, the many subte lines, shops, banks, hotels and travel agencies make it a convenient place to stay.
The main artery is the pedestrianised thoroughfare Florida with its mainstream shops. In the evening it turns into a flea market; while it has the occasional artisanal product, it's mainly mass-produced Indian scarves and such.
At its center is Plaza de Mayo, and the administrative buildings surrounding it, such as Casa Rosada. Lavalle is full of tacky souvenir stores, Avenida Corrientes is home to theatres and concert venues and Avenida 9 de Julio has bookstores and cafes.
