Noteworthy for: Midway Airport has kept chains out of its food hall, hosting only independent local restaurants.
Modestly-sized and largely hosting domestic flights, Midway Airport has come down in the world somewhat since it was the planet's busiest back in the 1950s. Nowadays, it's predominantly a hub for low cost airlines such as Southwest, but those who use it will find that its small size and relative closeness to downtown Chicago give it some clear advantages.

Perhaps chief among these are its good transport links - the airport has an effortless connection to central Chicago via the Chicago Transit Authority's Orange Line. Tickets cost USD 2.25 single fare and take roughly half an hour to reach the city's downtown. Buses and taxis can occasionally manage a faster time than this outside rush hour, but can be much slower and pricier at peak hours.
