With its neon signage and too-cool-for-school clientele, this Smithfield joint has a distinctly East Village dive bar feel (well, it is part-owned by Huey from the Fun Lovin' Criminals).
Although perhaps no longer in its prime, it's still got a rock 'n' roll attitude (in both a good and bad sense - staff can be off-hand) and can really kick off later when the DJ pulls out the stops. It's a good bet for when you're after something harder than Victorian pubs and traditional Irish tunes.
