Moeder Lambic

Quintessential Belgian beer bar
Tipple of choice: The Cantillon Faro (a sweetened and spiced lambic) and Kriek (cherry beer) on tap are superb.
Word to the wise: Moeder Lambic has a better known branch near the Grand Place, but this branch in Saint Gilles has a more local feel.
This tiny venue is a Belgian beer bar at its very best: crammed with wooden tables and chairs, racks of comics on the walls and ancient board games in the corner. It's dark, cosy and the atmosphere, the staff and the clientèle are all incredibly friendly.
Best of all, there are 1,000 beers to choose from, but with many of them being a whopping 12 percent proof, you may need to order some of the excellent local cheese and bread to line your stomach.
