Noteworthy for: The Maple Leaf was the first live music venue to reopen after Katrina - when local music legend Walter 'Wolfman' Washington played 'When the Levee Breaks' there wasn't a dry eye in the house.

The Leaf will always have a special place in New Orleaneans' hearts - and in the hearts of out-of-towners that make the streetcar trek from the Quarter to Oak Street, just beyond the Riverbend in Carrollton.
It's not a big place, and seems much smaller when it gets packed with revelers who spill out onto the street to escape the heat. There's live music every day, including funk, jazz, blues, and local bands from the nearby universities. But for the true New Orleans experience, come for the Rebirth Brass Band on Tuesday nights.
