Widder is a bar that belongs in a different era altogether. The piano plays a soulful tune while you drown yourself in multiple shots of whiskey. Fleeting images of Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis and Ella Fitzgerald take over your senses and you think to yourself, ‘what a wonderful world’. This Jazz paradise has over 250 varieties of single malts up for grabs along with 500 other liqueurs and spirits. Apart from these staples, there are vintage cocktails whipped up by the talented bartender Dirk Hany who was named the ‘Barkeeper of the year’ back in 2008. A part of Zurich’s luxury Widder Hotel, this bar has ornate ceilings, crimson leather walls and wooden beams that date back to the 13th century. The grand piano is impossible to miss and so are the mysterious grey sculptures, most of which can be attributed to Raffael Benazzi.
