Mumbai is blessed with immense beauty in its surroundings, and if you are somebody who is in love with beautiful drives, you're in luck. From the forever charming Lonavala and Khandala to the scenic Karjat, Mumbai's neighbourhood is just the place if you love staycations. Here, our favourite picks for staycations in the hood.

Alibaug
Alibaug is a piece of coastal heaven that awaits you just a ferry ride away from Mumbai. This is just the place if a luxury staycation is on your mind, with ample of private villas and holiday homes to choose from. There is not much to do here, and you can simply gaze at the setting sun with a glass of wine.
Igatpuri
Igatpuri is just a bit more than 120 km from Mumbai and takes less than 2 hours by road. It is set in the beautiful Western Ghats and is home to a number of attractions. If you want to spend some time exploring during your staycation here, there is the very famous Dhamma Giri camp, a waterfall, beautiful hill view points and more.
Goa
At 580 km, Goa is not the nearest staycation destination near Mumbai but it is definitely one of the best. It is a clean, four-lane road for most of the route and is one of the great loves for those who love long drives. Of course, there is no dearth of beautiful stays here, from quaint beach huts to star-rated villas and hotels.
Kamshet
At just 100 km from Mumbai, Kamshet is one of the lesser explored places from the city. It should definitely be on your list as it is stunningly beautiful and has some of the choicest stays. While it is largely famous for paragliding, Kamshet is also a hit for its beautiful private villas, farmhouse stays and homestays, all perfect for a staycation.
Lonavala
Lonavala is a very easy 83 km from Mumbai and is one of the favourite weekend getaways for the Mumbaikars. The beautiful place is home to luxurious hotels, private villas and you will have plenty of good options to choose from for a stay here. A hill getaway, it is a great place for a relaxing holiday and to cut off from the city din.
Karjat
Karjat is a little over 60 km from Mumbai and is a great staycation option amidst nature. It is much loved for the lush greenery that is all around, hikes, a famous temple, rappelling, camping and more. Those keen on a luxury staycation can also choose from a number of glamping options here to go camping with all the amenities as well!
Matheran
Matheran is perhaps the oldest love of Mumbaikars and very easy to get to as well. A short, pretty drive of around 2 hours will get you here. It is a quaint place and even motor vehicles are banned here to keep the surroundings calm and serene. There is no dearth of cosy stays here and you can easily have a good staycation here.
Mulshi
Mulshi is around 3.5 hour from Mumbai and is just the place for nature lovers. This little village is also an eco-tourism hotspot, and the deep Sahyadri forests are a beautiful sight. A luxury cottage staycation at Mulshi is perfect for a no-frills staycation.
