If you love road trips, Kerala is one of the best bets in India. Of course, some of the most sought-after attractions in Kerala are located close to each other and road trips are just perfect. Here, we bring to you the beautiful road trips that you can enjoy when in Kerala.
Munnar to Thekkady
This is one of the most scenic routes in India to enjoy a road trip. The never-ending hill slopes, along with lush tea and cardamom plantations offer sights that you will never forget. You will be elated to know that the Periyar National Park also lies on this route, which makes for a great pitstop for all wildlife and nature lovers. Plus, the route from Munnar to Thekkady will take you to pretty villages like Udumbanchola, Devikulam, and Pooppaara.
Kochi to Munnar
It’s one of those road trips that you should definitely enjoy if you love road trips. The route comprises endless jungles, lush green plantations, winding roads, cascading waterfalls, and whatnot. On the way, you can opt to visit Kodanad, one of famed elephant training centres in Kerala. Then, for the bird lovers, there is Thattekad. And, if you have extra time, you can enjoy a quick stop at the Athirappilly waterfalls, and the Karadippara view point.
Kozhikode to Wayanad
With meandering hills, and picturesque villages on the route, it will be a road trip that you would wish never ends. The entire journey will be of around two and a half hours, and offer you great views of the Western Ghats. Some of the highlights of this road trip should be the Wayanad Heritage Museum, Banasura Sagar Dam, Pookot Lake, Sultan Bathery, and the Thirunelli Temple. Those willing to explore the southern areas of Wayanad should take the Sultan Bathery route via Kalpetta, while those seeking to explore the northern side can take the diversion to Mananthavady from Kainatty.
Kumarakom to Thekkady
The drive from Kumarakom to Thekkady will not only offer you options of numerous spots, but will also let you unwind amid nature. Tea estates and spice plantations will accompany you throughout the way; plus, there are some waterfalls on the route that you can choose to visit. If not all, you can spend some time in Valanjanganam and Aruvikkuzhi waterfalls. For ultimate travel experience, you can choose the route via Ettumanoor, Pala and Kumily.
Kottayam to Vagamon
This can be easily touted as one of the most scenic road trip routes that you can take when in Kerala. The very journey from Kottayam to Vagamon is a drive to remember. As you set off for the drive, keep aside a couple of hours to get lost in the beauty of the route, which is filled with lush greenery and sloping roads. If you manage to start early in the morning, you’ll be greeted with the first beams of sunlight!
