In Italian, Castel dell'Ovo means the Egg Castle. A fortified castle in the Bay of Naples, its name comes from a legend about the Roman poet Virgil who was a great sorcerer in the medieval times. Castel dell'Ovo is a seaside castle located on the island of Megaride on the Gulf of Naples. This island was colonised by Greeks from Cumae in 6th century BC. The last Western Roman emperor was exiled to this site. Its location offers a stunning view of the Naples waterfront. Read less
