Cortina is an excellent resort for beginners, with a vast choice of long cruising runs and nursery slopes, although the lack of challenging skiing on offer means advanced skiers are likely to become frustrated. The fragmented ski areas add to this sense of inconvenience, forcing skiers onto the buses to navigate netween the seperate areas. However, Cortina is more widely associated with the magnificent scenery and wide slection of mountain restaurants than the skiing itself. There is a wide array of off-slope activities, with a variety of other sports and a vast selection of chic shops, reflecting the up market clientele. The high visitor numbers despite the sometimes poor snowfall indicates the high level of off-the-slopes entertainment, whilst also reflecting the relazed attitude towards skiing of many of the Italian visitors.
