It is easy to cycle in and around Calgary, thanks to some awesome paved pathways and mountain bike trails. Best of all, if you have your own bike, this excellent exercise and fun activity is absolutely free. Head to Nose Hill Park if you want to get out on your mountain bike as there are over 13 km trails waiting for you. Choose from beginner to intermediate, paved to gravel and smooth to rolling single tracks. Another great place to bike is along the RiverWalk or from Fort Calgary to Prince’s Island Park, just don’t forget to bring a picnic basket. Carburn Park also boasts a paved biking path that is perfect for the younger ones. Only 3 km in length, it takes riders in a loop around the pond. For serious ones, who are looking to put at least 15 km on their bike, there is Glenmore Reservoir loop where there are a few small hills and some incredible scenery, just note that this loop does become quite busy over the weekend. There are endless trails that run along the Bow River and plenty of shops to rent bikes from if you don’t have your own.
