Located around three kilometres away from the city centre, picturesque Dadonghai is ringed by rocky mountains. The crescent-shaped beach is considerably wider than Sanya Bay, and has a number of sea-facing bars and eateries. Those so inclined can sign up for surfing, jet skiing, snorkelling, and parasailing – there are a number of operators offering classes and equipment. Surfing Hainan is a reliable outfit and operates a half-an-hour long paddle from Dadonghai to Yalong Bay, with a buffet breakfast at a five star hotel thrown in.
