With majestic lions, elephants, rhinoceros, zebras, tigers and giraffes, the Hiroshima City Asa Zoological Park promises a memorable experience for both tourists and locals. Unlike other zoos around the world where animals seem to be in a rather deplorable condition, this park ensures that they are well taken care of and happy despite being away from their natural habitat. The fact that you can see the most intimidating of wild animals behind glass walls (that are completely safe) only adds to the thrill. Apart from providing visitors the opportunity to interact directly with goats and guinea pigs in the form of an elaborate petting area, it also has an incredible snake house. Moreover, the massive playground with its spacious benches is perfect for family picnics. The most popular areas of the park are the elephant enclosure, especially during feeding time followed by the main enclosure where you can watch playful monkeys. Pony rides are available during holidays and kids very evidently just cannot have enough of the same. The Night Safari held during the summer season also attracts the crowds.
