Stardust Hotel and Casino

Hunter S. Thompson’s drug crazed characters, Raoul Duke and Dr Gonzo are supposed to be staying at Las Vegas hotel and casino, Circus Circus, before they trash their rooms and have to move on by sneaking out in a complicated web of deception and taking with them many melons…however the Circus, Circus management wouldn’t let them use the real location (the story goes because the real life event did too much damage they didn’t want them repeated - but I don’t know how true that is) so they substituted for the Stardust Hotel and the Le Bistro Lounge, Riviera Hotel and Casino and re-created Circus, Circus, pretty reliably I understand, so I‘m not sure if which hotel I should direct you to, the original location or the dressed-up reproduction? Either way don’t be surprised if you suddenly feel like you’re on a drug induced bender when you step inside, it’s not you.The scenes before they leave for their trip are shot at the Ambassador Hotel, 340 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, California, USA.
