El Chorro National Park is the best that the rural hinterland of Spain has to offer. Three gorgeous lakes and endless pine forests surround the El Chorro dam. If you’re an adventurer at heart, the El Chorro Gorge and an exciting passage known as Caminito del Rey (The King's Walkway) provide a good climb. However, we would suggest going with a guide even if you’re an experienced hiker as the path can be unsteady. It used to be downright dangerous and was closed for 15 years, but it has recently been opened again after minor refurbishment. Carry light snacks and wear comfortable clothing. It might be a good idea to slather yourself with sunscreen as the sun can be extremely harsh here. Local buses serve the entire area and offer regular service. However, it is highly recommended to rent a car to explore the hidden gems of El Chorro National Park. The entire area is definitely one of the prettiest in the province of Malaga.
