Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, is the largest city in Croatia and one of the smallest capitals in Europe. Zagreb is the country’s political, financial, educational and cultural hub. Zagreb’s medieval past thrives within its small old town. The city was featured prominently during the Austro Hungarian Empire. The Habsburg architecture around the Ban Josip Jelačić square stands in sharp contrast with the socialist reformations of 20th century. Zagreb is surrounded by untouched natural beauty. While Mount Medvednica forms a permanent backdrop, the lakes and forests around the capital provide ideal day breaks from the city. This relatively small metropolis of Europe is drawing high number of visitors with its laidback charm. Known as the city of museums, Zagreb has more museums per square foot than any other city in the world. Take a sip of coffee at one of the street side cafes or wander around exploring the street art, all in all Zagreb is a great city-break destination in Croatia and you are certainly going to have a good time.
