This mammoth sports complex was originally built for the 1982 Asian Games. It is spread over 102 acres making it the largest indoor sports arena in India. The facility has a seating capacity of over 14,000 spectators. The complex was renovated at a cost of Rs 240 crore for the 2010 Commonwealth Games. An air-conditioned Velodrome was also built at a cost of Rs 150 crore. The velodrome has a timber track meant for indoor cycling events and is apparently the second best in the world after Beijing.
