Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, also known as Keoladeo Ghana National Park, is spread across an area of 29 sq km. It has a good mix of dry grasslands, woodlands, swamps and wetlands that boast rich flora and fauna. Depending upon individual preferences, one can take a bicycle or a rickshaw, or explore on foot. Bharatpur is open throughout the year, but the best time to watch resident birds is between the months of August and November. During this time, visitors can see grey francolin, jungle bush quail, woodpecker, kingfisher, barbets, ducks, etc. Migratory birds from Siberia and Central Asia, such as eagles, hawks, cranes, pelicans, wagtails, warblers and many others, can also be spotted from October to February.
