Hassan II Mosque

If there is one thing that features on all itineraries of Casablanca, it is King Hassan II Mosque. Unlike a lot of Morocco’s gems, this is a relatively recent construction. It’s the third largest mosque in the world and one of the very few that allow non-Muslims inside. However, it is famous for being the mosque with the tallest minaret in the world.
The mosque can accommodate over 100,000 worshippers at once. It overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and makes for a fine photograph. But the handsome exterior is only the proverbial tip of the iceberg. Once inside, it’s easy to see what makes King Hassan II Mosque stand out—the sheer magnificence and intricacy of the details will take your breath away. The majestic doors, retractable roof, decorated floors, marble walls and water fountains leave most visitors awestruck.

The mosque is also home to a madrasa (school), hammam (communal baths), conference halls and a huge library. We suggest wearing covered clothes to visit the mosque. Opt for a guided tour. A tour is the best way to see the mosque because the sheer size can be quite overwhelming for most visitors.
