The Culture and Congress Centre of Lucerne is the best venue in the city for concerts, conferences, high-profile meetings and panel discussions. Built between the years of 1995 and 2000, the KKL is the brainchild of the Parisian architect Jean Nouvel and has three demarcated sections—the concert hall, the multifunctional hall and the convention centre. Tourists visit this address, irrespective of whether or not they are interested in attending an event, such is its magnificence. The acoustics of this establishment are deemed the best in the city and the finest orchestras in the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, have graced Kultur und Kongresszentrum with their presence. KKL has some 1800 seats in its auditorium and plays host to over 500 annual events, both on a national and an international level, often at the same time. The roof terrace of this maple concert hall has some arresting panoramic views of the city. The fourth floor of KKL is home to the Lucerne Museum of Art which has interesting exhibits by local artists in its modern rooms. Gourmet restaurants and cafes are also a part of this attraction.
