Despite the location of many live music venues in close proximity on Frenchmen Street, such is the reputation that each has its own loyal patronage and following. With its distinctive interiors and massive wall murals of musicians, Cafe Negril lays claim to the fact that it has been around much before the street acquired its formidable reputation, and gave many of the popular jazz musicians their breaks. In addition to jazz, blues and rock, Negril is also known for its reggae music. It has such artistes as Broken Strings, Noggin, The Soul Project Band, Higher Heights Reggae Band, and John Lisi Band. It’s also popular for its vibrant dance floor, and its Mexican fare apart from the cocktails.
