Located about 90 km north of Brisbane and just south of Mooloolaba is the seaside town of Caloundra. Quiet and popular only with the locals, Caloundra is among the Sunshine Coast’s best kept secrets. The winding sea-facing road is a pleasure to drive on but more fulfilling is a long walk, preferably at day-break on the newly laid Waterfront Boardwalk that skirts along giant boulders and meanders along the coastline, providing unhindered views of the sea and the beach. Since this is a popular camping site, you’re bound to come across a number of caravans comfortably lining the streets.
