Step into the world of timeless sophistication – located in the heart of Plainpalais, Patek Philippe Museum is a private museum dedicated to the history of luxury watch-making from 16th century to 19th century. Founded in 2001 by Geneva-based firm of master watchmakers, Patek Philippe, the museum is created to preserve the true legacy of the genius. Four floors of the museum carry Patek Philippe collection since its inception in 1839, as well as Antique collection consisting of Genevese, Swiss & European watches, and enamels from 16th to 19th century. First floor displays the history of clocks since 15th century; second floor contains history of Patek Philippe factory, from 18th till 21st century; while the third floor is filled with the library of books about physics and mechanics of the clocks and personal documents written by Patek & Philippe. The cinema hall located in the basement of the museum plays short movies on the history of watch-making. You will be surprised to learn that the clock designed in 15th centuries carried primarily religious ornaments. How the world of watch-making has evolved from manual creations to automated precisions in current times, is truly astonishing.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
