Reportedly, vehicular movement will be barred on the Thane-Mumbra bypass route from April 16 onwards for a period of 60 days. Consequently, the passengers and vehicular owners travelling from Mumbai to Thane, Kalyan and Dombivali, and vice-versa will have to put up for the civic discomfort and traffic burden for 2 months.
According to news reports, the cause behind the repair work is the potholes that have appeared on the Thane-Mumbra bypass road, which are hazardous for vehicular movement. The road is also linked to a poorly-maintained bridge which is all the more dangerous. Therefore, the PWD authorities will now be getting on job to spruce up the bridge as well as the road.

While the repair work is on, the vehicles coming from Thane will be re-directed to Airoli-Eastern Expressway, and they can take the road from Shilfata to Kalyan and Bhiwandi.
Also, passengers travelling in four wheelers, three wheelers and two-wheelers will have to take the old Mumbra village route to get to Thane. In addition, heavy vehicles like trucks and lorries, which are debarred from travelling during the day, will get parking space at Navi Mumbai’s CIDCO and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation truck terminal for a limited period of time.
