While it’s definitely an activity for adventure enthusiasts, paragliding can be one of the most awe-inspiring and freeing experiences for a person—whether you’re adventurous or not. Just a short hour-long drive from Bangalore, Nandi Hills in the district of Chikballapur is the best place to go for paragliding close to the city. Although the activity had been discontinued in between, it was recently brought back and has been drawing in both locals and tourists by the hordes. Those who really want too master the sport will require a good amount of training before launching into the skies—there are courses ranging from two days up to a week, where trained professionals will school you in all the required techniques like forward launching, low level flights and maintaining airspeed—and alternatively, those who lack the time and just want the experience can opt to ride in tandem with a trained co-glider, which allows you to take in the breathtaking views and enjoy the experience without putting in the time. Gliding times range from 10-40 minutes, and the organisers will provide you with all the necessary safety gear.
