Take a Vaporetti out across the Venetian Lagoon to Lido Island, an 11-kilometre long sandbar where one side boasts a lovely sandy beach. Avoid the private beaches which may charge a fee or require membership to enter and instead head for the public Blue Moon Beach and enjoy the open space of the Adriatic Sea. The sea is quite calm and safe and there are many restaurants, bars and nightclubs to entertain you at the Lido, you could even stay here the night to really get away from it all. The Venice Film Festival is also held at the Lido every September.
