From fresh cheddar cheese to handmade paper items, you can look for various kinds of stuff in the local market. But what you should not miss is the pickle shop on the main road. It is a very small shop owned and managed by a charming lady, Renu Pradhan. She makes various kinds of pickles and other local delicacies, and makes you taste everything with a lot of affection. If there was no restriction of weight in the flight, I would have bought at least 10 kg goodies from her. From authentic Gorkhali dishes such as gundruk and sel roti to corn and local mushroom pickle, Renu makes every item using local ingredients. The USP is the local indigenous ingredients turned into novelty items.Tip: If you have a penchant for local goodies, talk to Renu and she will surprise you with something unusual she has prepared. She will make you taste and also pack it nicely for you.
