Ever imagined a rendezvous with a 20 ft whale shark? Before imaginations go any wilder and readers start considering the author (read ‘me’) as insane, it would be wise to mention upfront that whale sharks are plankton-loving gentle giants and are harmless to humans. Almost all the sea creatures are afraid of things they do not understand (a human in scuba diving equipment tops that list). Experienced guides and divers, who know the ocean like streets in their locality are imperative to have the best probability of sighting one of these mammoth creatures. Many resorts offer the opportunity of shark safari, albeit at a hefty cost. Food and wine on-board is, generally, complimentary and part of the package.
