Shimla Calling: 4th International Film Festival of Shimla

We will never be over those childhood trips to Shimla, and it is calling us yet again. Yes, it is time for the 4th International Film Festival of Shimla, the festival dates for this year are set from October 12 to October 14. Our old favourite Gaiety Theatre on the Mall Road will again be the venue this time, a charm in itself.

The Shimla International Film Festival will be running its 4th edition this year and is expected to lure in some of the most talented filmmakers from around the world. Films of international repute will be contending in different categories, including Best Documentary, Best Short Fiction (below 40 minutes), Best Feature Film, Best Animation (below 30 Minutes) and Best Music Video (7 minutes or less).
This time, the festival is also organising an exclusive national level competition for all the above-mentioned categories. Apart from the awards, you can also go for special film screenings, especially because this year’s schedule boasts of engrossing works of art from countries as diverse as Iran, Turkey, the USA, France, the Netherlands, Japan, Poland, Israel, and of course from a number of states in India.

The film festival in Shimla this year will also have masterclasses and workshops in filmmaking. There is a visitation fee of INR 300 for students and INR 500 for other delegates, and the same can be sought online as well. All the three festival days will see action starting at 10:30 AM every day, all set to continue till 5 PM.
A number of noted celebrities and artists from the filmmaking are expected to be a part of this gala celebration this year; veteran actor Deepti Naval was a part of the same in its 3rd edition.

But, when it is in Shimla, action never really stops. Once you are done satiating your creative side at the film festival, do not forget to spend some time on the Mall Road. It is lined with some wonderful eateries and stalls that sell interesting curios and souvenirs.
