Suva, the capital city, may not seem like a place you want to spend a whole lot of time but this urban area actually offers an awesome waterfront that deserves to be explored. The horseshoe-shaped walk extends up to the national stadium from the city, and has become a popular place for both locals and tourists to stroll. It is here where you will find the botanic gardens and the Presidential Palace. Guards stand to attention wearing sandals and traditional white sulus, changing every two hours, a ceremony the kids will delight in. Bring a picnic along and watch as a game of pickup rugby starts, or take in the magnificent sunset. This is also the place to be if you want to shop until you drop in Fiji as it boasts all the trendy shops. Don’t miss out on the dining and nightlife in the capital, visit one of the many curry houses that line the streets and indulge in a little late night dancing in the nightclub district. On one hand you will see business men lining the streets and on the other, students in board shorts hanging out at the markets, and it becomes quite clear that this city indeed in one big melting pot.
