Berlin offers some breathtaking venues for those who like to walk into the wilderness. The Grunewald, a pine zone in the middle of the urban sprawl is reminiscent of New York’s Central Park. You could even go yatch sailing in one of the many lakes here, definitely a must visit for shutterbugs. In addition to Grunewald, there is the 520 acre-Tiergarten that served as the hunting grounds for Prince electors. If you happen to pay a visit in winters, try ice-skating in one of the many lakes that are frozen over. Additional attractions include the Templehof Airport, what was once Europe’s largest building and is today Berlin’s newest park. The grounds here have been given away to kite surfers and guerrilla gardeners with local families regularly turning up for picnics.
